Jose Gonzalez Re-Releases 'Veneer'

Jose Gonzalez Re-Releases 'Veneer'
Mar 21, 2006
Story by: Rebecca Raber

Swedish singer-songwriter José González will re-release his breakout album, Veneer, on Mute April 4. His record, which CMJ called "a simple and sublime exercise in music without borders," was initially released Stateside last September by Hidden Agenda. In support of its re-release, González kicked of a brief US tour on Sunday night in San Francisco, after playing at last week's South By Southwest festival. His quick trek includes three Northeast dates supporting the Books, as well as two, solo New York shows at Joe's Pub. 2006 has been a busy year for González, so far. In January his Stay In The Shade EP was released in America and he contributed vocals for four tracks on the new Zero 7 album, The Garden (Atlantic), which will be out June 6, including their first single, "Futures" and a reworking of Veneer's "Crosses."
