On Myspace, her music is called "crunk/zouk/grindcore," but the new sound coming from Juana Molina’s fifth full-length album, Un Dia, is trippy, transcendent, and challenges an inevitable World Music labeling with conversely tribal and electronic styling. Recorded in Molina’s home and released on Domino Records, the eight-track album is an exodus from the sound Molina tempered on her 2006 album, Son as she ups the rhythm and drive, creating an exotic yet inviting sound. Molina’s "folktronica" also spins Spanish lyrics together with texturized, looping grooves, a twist familiar to M.I.A. and High Places devotees. Although Un Dia was released on October 7, 2008, free downloads of the title track are still available on Molina’s website. Her very first US tour with a full band, starting Februrary 9, lasts a month and spans the coasts. Tracklist For Un Dia: 01.Un Dia 02.Vive Solo 03.Lo Dejamos 04.Los Hongos De Marosa 05.
