The Rapture, 2003's band-of-the-moment, are teaming up with hip-hop producer-of-the-moment Danger Mouse for their lusted-after follow-up to Echoes, which will technically be their third full-length. Since the much-delayed release of Echoes, which included the dance-punk movement's defining moment with the "House Of Jealous Lovers" single, the Rapture have remained relatively quiet, playing only a few shows. The band has been working on their next longplayer in L.A. and expects a summer release for the so-called 'brighter' sounding release. Those wondering exactly how a collaboration between a hipster buzz band and a hip-hop wunderkind will manifest, vocalist Luke Jenners told Rolling Stone, "[Danger Mouse] just treats us like samples. Instead of me going in and playing a guitar part, he'll take a little loop of it and use it to sound like something's exploding. It doesn't even sound like a guitar after he's done with it sometimes. That's new for us." Sorry, no track titles or even an album name yet (though the band half-seriously has suggested Taco Party in honor of their love for the delicious Mexican dish). www.therapturemusic.co.uk
