Shortly after Aterciopelados' lead singer Andrea Echeverri gives birth to her second child, the Colombian band will begin touring the US in April to support their latest melodic rock release, Rio (Nacional). Aterciopelados, or "The Velvety Ones," were rewarded for their eclectic musical roots-ing with a Latin Grammy for their album, Oye, in 2006. Since then, they've teamed up with Amnesty International to create "The Price of Silence" music video, which commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights. Their latest music video for "Rio" overlays choppy city footage with bright animated paintings of shapes, snakes and people. So in addition to having a colorfully surreal video aesthetic, they are also decent human beings—both great reasons to support Aterciopelados on their upcoming tour.
