Former Weezer bassist Matt Sharp is back in action with his other heralded band, cult-favorite the Rentals. Sharp and founding member Rachel Haden have roped in a slew of new folks for a Rentals reunion that will see both a new album and tour. The Rentals are perhaps best known as one of the first bands to break the moog into power-pop tunes, and their mid-'90s output (two albums, 1995's Return Of The Rentals and 1999's Seven More Minutes) influenced a slew of imitators years later. The band also, at one point, featured SNL-cast member Maya Rudolph, as well as Petra Haden and Weezer drummer Pat Wilson. A few tour dates have surfaced, but the band's studio return isn't due until next year.
