Are they a metal band? A hip-hop group? Since their inception in 1992, Brooklyn-based Candiria has been drawing the two genres closer together with their experimental combination of aggressive music. The group has just announced the release of a set of remixes and rarities, titled Toying With The Insanities. The set will come in four volumes (only one of which has a confirmed tracklist), with the last two volumes not expected to be released until 2010. The first two volumes will be released digitally via iTunes, Amazon and other digital retailers on September 9, along with limited pressings of CDs and LPs. While it's not likely that they will be performing live anytime soon (half of the band has departed its ranks due to creative differences), remaining members Carley Coma (vocals) and John Lamacchia (guitar) report that they may continue their endeavors as a rhythm section-less electronica project.
