According to a posting on her MySpace page, MIA is exactly that. Well, sort of. The Sri-Lankan born, British art rapper who signed to Interscope last spring was due in the US last month to start work with producer Timbaland on the follow up to her breakthrough debut Arular, but was denied a visa to work or visit the States. MIA wrote on her MySpace blog: “the U.S immigration wont let me in!!!!! i was mennu work with timber startin this week… im locked out! they wont let me in! Now Im strictly making my album outside the borders!!!! so il see you all one day, for now ill keep reportin from the sidelines.” There is no word on why MIA (né Maya Arulpragasam) was denied entry, but NME is reporting that her lawyers are currently trying to sort the situation out. www.miauk.com www.interscope.com
