It's going to be a banner summer for Spoon fans. Merge will re-release Spoon's early recordings, Telephono and the Soft Effects EP on July 25. The early works have been remastered by Kevin Nettleingham and will be released as two CDs in separate sleeves within one slip case. The original artwork will be used for both. "Both recordings have been essentially out of print for several years," says the band's publicist. "And both we and the band are excited to make them available again, especially to all of the folks who have discovered Spoon recently, but have been unable to find copies of these releases anywhere except eBay, etc." Spoon will also be playing a handful of California dates in August with Mates of State and Death Cab for Cutie.
