Even though Moshi Moshi technically turned 10 last year—celebrating with a party in London featuring Hot Chip and Kate Nashs—the London-based label is continuing their anniversary party with a US tour featuring three artists who are currently on their roster. British bands Slow Club and the Wave Pictures will join Norway’s Casiokids for a tour of North America, including shows in New York’s South Street Seaport and a two-night party in San Francisco. The tour kicked off two nights ago in Chicago and makes 10 stops (natch) before ending in Seattle on August 13. Started as a hobby in 1998 by three friends, Moshi Moshi made a name for itself by releasing interesting, low-key singles by the likes of Zan Lyons and J Xaverre. The label stopped becoming a hobby and became a full-time gig for its founders in 2004. Soon after, Hot Chip and Bloc Party turned Moshi Moshi into more well known name, and in the years following, they released albums by the Rakes, Au Revoir Simone, Mates Of State, the Mae Shi and more. In late 2006, the Moshi Moshi Singles Club was started, which released one 7-inch each month by an up-and-coming artist. The roster now includes some impressive names, including Kate Nash, Lykke Li, Friendly Fires, and Florence And the Machine.
