Finally! Trip-hop legends Massive Attack are releasing their first new music in three years. On October 6, the band will release an EP, Splitting The Atom, (Virgin), which features guest appearances from Robert Del Naja of 3D, Grant Marshall of Daddy G, and Horace Andy on its title track. In fact, the short collection boasts a long list of cameos. The song "Pray For Rain" features TV On The Radio's Tunde Adebimpe, and the tracks "Psyche" and "Bulletproof Love" are presented on the EP as remixes by Van Rivers And The Subliminal Kid (known for working with Bat For Lashes and the Big Pink) and Christoff Berg (known for his work on the Fever Ray album) respectively. Massive Attack is also prepping a new full-length, that is due for a February release. This new effort will be their fifth studio recording, and will feature an equally impressive guest list. Grammy-Award winner Damon Albarn, singer-songwriter Hope Sandoval, British vocalist Martina Topley-Bird, singer/guitarist Guy Garvey and, again, Tunde Adebimpe are all lending their vocal talents to the new album. Earlier this year, the band took home the Outstanding Contribution To British Music Award at the Ivor Novello Awards, and now plans to headline this year's Bestival on the Isle Of Wight on Friday, September 11. That set will be followed by their first full UK tour in three years. Busy much? Tracklist For Splitting The Atom: 01. Splitting The Atom 02. Pray For Rain 03.
