After his tenure performing as main singer/songwriter in Pedro The Lion, songwriter David Bazan has shed the Lion moniker and released an EP, Fewer Moving Parts, under his own name. The record, released June 13 on Jade Tree, features five songs played twice—once with full instrumentation, then acoustically for those inclined to light candles and tap toes with emotion. Jade Tree will release the EP digitally on July 11. The album jacket features artwork by Zak Sally, a graphic novelist and the bassist for Low. Bazan will bring his new material on tour this summer before he heads back to his home studio in Seattle to work on a full length, tentatively due in 2007. Jade Tree labelmate Micah P. Hinson will join him for the West Coast leg of the tour. Tracklist For Fewer Moving Parts: 01. Selling Advertising 02. How I Remember 03. Fewer Broken Pieces 04. Cold Beer and Cigarettes 05.
