London folk quartet Mumford And Sons have just been added to the roster of Glassnote, a label that also puts out records by Phoenix and the Temper Trap. Glassnote has slated an early 2010 release for Mumford And Sons' debut album, Sigh No More. That album, which was recorded at Eastcote Studios with producer Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Bjork), is already critically-acclaimed in their homeland and debuted in the UK iTunes Top 10. Their first single, "Little Lion Man" is already being called "The Hottest Record In The World" by BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe, and the band has been long-listed for the BBC Sounds Of 2009 Poll, which features promising new music talent. Formed in 2007, Mumford And Sons are Marcus Mumford (vocals, guitar, bass drum, tambourine), Ben Lovett (keyboards), Country Winston (banjo, dobro, electric guitar) and Ted Dwane (bass). Prior to their debut album, they recorded and produced three EPs and have toured the UK extensively (including a barge tour of the Thames, an island-hopping tour of the Scottish highlands and a set at Glastonbury). They've toured the US as support for London-based folkie Laura Marling and most recently played a handful of well received performances at the 2009 CMJ Music Marathon. www.mumfordandsons.com www.myspace.com/mumfordandsons www.glassnotemusic.com
