Alkaline Trio have formed their own label under Epitaph Records, called Heart And Skull after their long-time, gothic heart/skull logo. All three band members—Matt Skiba, Dan Andriano and Derek Grant—are partners in the new label, which was made possible by Epitaph's Brett Gurewitz. In a statement, frontman Skiba gushed, "All three of us in Alkaline Trio have always had the utmost respect for the music and the work ethic of the Epitaph, Anti and Hellcat family and now we're honored to be working together under one big happy roof. Heart And Skull/Epitaph is truly a dream come true for us." Since starting out in 1996, Alkaline Trio have been on "every kind of label in the industry," says Skiba, and with six studio albums and other releases under their belts, they knew it was time to gain control of their music with their own label and "adapt to the shifting tides of the music industry." The band will release its seventh full-length on this new imprint in early 2010. www.alkalinetrio.com
