SYSTEM OF A DOWN: SYSTEM OF A DOWN
Nov 10, 2000
By Jackie Vendetti

Rarely does an album with a forceful political statement actually have the musical merit to back up its mission, but System Of A Down's debut is definitely one that has both style and substance in spades. Thealbum's caustic hard rock is unbelievably heavy, thanks to the impressive production work of Rick Rubin (Slayer) and Dave Sardy (Far, Barkmarket). Unpredictable beats and crazy vocals make this band standout in an otherwise long line of Korn and Deftones imitators. At times, the band's music can get wacky enough to elicit a chuckle, but its beats and riffs are so brutal that your laughter will quickly giveway to a full onslaught of moshable, hard rockin' enjoyment.
