Heavy metal progenitors Blue Cheer have announced an abbreviated tour that will kick off November 2 with a performance at the CMJ Music Marathon. The band, who is best known for their 1968 cover of Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues" (no, it is not a Who song), have retained two of their three original members, vocalist/bassist Richard "Dickey" Peterson and drummer Paul Whaley. In addition to touring, they're also planning a release of all new material that's due sometime in 2007. Despite several lineup changes and breakups, Blue Cheer have remained active in one form or another for the better part of 40 years.
