Stereolab's "Miss Modular" 12" also features remixes of four other tracks from the band's latest, Dots And Loops, Automator re-interprets "Miss Modular" beautifully with the use of twinkling piano and chanting monks. The single's centerpiece, Russell Simins's take on "Rainbo Conversation," use brief, thumping rhythms layered with sitar whines. Autechre's "Feedbate Mix" of "Refractions In The Plastic Pulse" is the single's most gripping moment. The wünderkids (Sean Booth and Rob Brown) make the song into a stylized, abstract journey by manipulating the instrumental and vocal tracks, running the mix backwards at high speed, and then pushing it forward again, all the while injecting it with faster drum 'n' bass rhythms and breakbeats.
