EMI Music, a subsidiary of the EMI Group and home to more than a dozen labels including Astralwerks, Blue Note and the Capitol Music Group, has announced that they will restructure their Caroline distribution division. The EMI Group, which has undertaken a massive reorganization of late, will divide Caroline’s current interests amongst three separate sectors: one that will focus on artist repertoire, one on artist development and the final on independent distribution. As part of the reassessment, the repertoire unit will deal with artists from EMI Music UK and EMI Music International through three of their current labels. Caroline itself will take over as home to hard rock, metal and punk outfits, Astralwerks will focus on alternative, dance and electronic and Internationally Known will handle both CD and digital releases for international pop titles, as well as select digital-only releases. Current senior VP and GM of Caroline, William Hein, will continue to oversee all of the group's interests. www.emigroup.com
