Paul Weller Preps New Record

Paul Weller Preps New Record
Jun 20, 2005

Paul Weller, grandaddy of the British pop music scene for the past three decades and counting, will release his 8th solo album in September, according to Yep Roc. As Is Now promises to be a departure from Weller's acoustically-oriented solo efforts, and could very well mark a return to the infectious '60s sound that earned him the nickname "The Modfather." Weller first emerged in the '70s as front man of The Jam, which had a large influence on bands like Oasis and Blur. His next band, The Style Council, found Weller experimenting with more overt soul and jazz music to lesser success. Since then, Weller's solo career has seen everything from the top of the pops to, well, not so top... "From The Floorboards Up," the first single from As Is Now will be available on iTunes July 19th. A tour is slated for September, with more dates to come.

Tour Dates:
9/16 - Los Angeles, CA - The Wiltern
9/17 - San Francisco, CA - The Warfield
9/20 - Chicago, IL - The Vic
9/22 - Toronto, ON - Kool House
9/24 - New York, NY - Roseland
9/25 - Boston, MA - Avalon
