The Animal Collective's 2004 release Sung Tongs found half of the quartet missing from the recording and the Prospect Hummer EP had only one better, but come this fall, the entirety of the revolving door that is the Collective will appear on their sixth album, Feels. Scheduled for an October 18 release by Fat Cat Records, the band's rep claims the album will be its most accessible yet. Animal Collective's sound is often hard to pin down—nu-folk, cerebal and visceral?— but "eclectic" is usually a good fallback. So will the Collective really forgo their traditional spacey sounds for something more grounded?
