Rhino will soon release Weird Tales Of The Ramones, the first ever Ramones box set. An 85-track, triple-disc collection culled from 16 of the band's albums and compiled by Johnny Ramone before his death last year, the set will include an additional DVD featuring all of the band's Sire and Radioactive Records videos, interviews and other rare footage. Upping the ante for box set liner notes, Rhino commissioned 25 renowned graphic novel and comic artists (who also happen to be Ramones fans) to create a 52-page, full-color comic book for the collection. Artists include Sergio Aragones (Mad Magazine), Xaime Hernandez (Love And Rockets), John Pound (Garbage Pail Kids), Bill Griffiths (Zippy The Pinhead), John Holmstrom (Ramones album covers), among others. The book is packed with comic-style ads for Ramones wigs, Ramones rubber masks and "Sea Markys," as well as a 3-D comic (glasses included).
