Nicolay, the Dutch beat-maker and half of the hip-hop duo Foreign Exchange, has just announced the launch of his new label, Nicolay Music. The imprint has been a dream of his for some time, but it was finally coaxed into reality thanks to a partnership with Groove Attack Productions for distribution and Premium Blend Music Productions for publishing. Nicolay's approach to running the label will involve a strong artist-fan relationship. "I have always been an easily accessible person and I have witnessed first hand how refreshing that is for people. Nowadays, fans do not necessarily want to buy a random CD, they want to support the artist(s) that they love by being involved, going to shows and potentially buy their music." Some of the first releases will be Nicolay & Kay Present... Time:Line, a concept album and collaboration with Houston emcee Kay that comes out this fall, a new installment in Nicolay's City Lights series and a mixtape with DJ Rhettmatic of the World Famous Beat Junkies. Additionally, a sophomore Foreign Exchange album is in the final stages, titled Leave It All Behind, which drops in 2008. In addition to his work in Foreign Exchange, Nicolay has produced for Little Brother, Supastition, Masta Ace, Strange Fruit Project and Zion I. www.nicolaymusic.com
