Gainesville, Florida punks Against Me! may have released one of this year's best records, moved to a major label and had fans take them to task for the jump, but the boys are proving their hearts are still in the right place. The band is teaming up with the Harvest Of Hope Foundation, a non-profit organization that raises funds for migrant farm workers, to help raise money and awareness for a 6-year-old girl from Tifton, Georgia in desperate need of a life-saving bone marrow transplant. In May 2006, Diana Olalde was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, an aggressive form of cancer in which white blood cells multiply rapidly and damage normal cells due to overcrowding. Olalde was treated with chemotherapy, but relapsed in August of this year. Doctors are saying that Olalde needs to have the transplant within a month, but her family can't afford the operation, which costs in excess of $500,000. The band is urging people to make a contribution to the young girl and visit the MySpace page her family set up. This isn't the first time Against Me! has teamed up with Harvest Of Hope. In August, they played a benefit in their hometown to raise awareness and funding for the organization. www.myspace.com/olalde2007 www.harvestofhope.net www.againstme.net
