The Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA) has acquired online retailer Insound.com, according to a report filed by Billboard this morning. ADA, the Warner Music Group-owned distributor of independent labels, is making the move to expand its digital sales by using the website as a back-end to allow its own clients (which includes Saddle Creek, Merge, Sub Pop and Downtown) to eventually open their own online stores. According to the report, Insound, which was founded in 1998, will continue to be operated by co-founder Matt Wishnow. Phone calls to both ADA and Insound were not returned by press time. www.insound.com www.ada-music.com
