Bon Iver Robbed In Austin
Mar 16, 2008
Story by: Matt Kiser

Justin Vernon, the man behind Bon Iver, was robbed Thursday afternoon at the Parish Room in Austin, Texas during NPR's "Music For The Right Brain" SXSW showcase. Vernon had stepped out of the green room for several minutes to check out Jens Lekman's performance before his afternoon show. When he returned, Vernon's fannypack was missing, which contained more than $300 cash, his driver's license, passport, credit and debit cards. "It was such a good vibe all week and this humongous bummer overshadows it," Vernon told CMJ. The theft comes at a particularly bad time as the artist has no identification and no time to get cards or ID reissued before his European tour. "I got to figure something out right now because I'm going to Europe for a week and a half starting May 8," he added. If anyone has information about the theft, they can contact Vernon via his publicist, Lucy Robinson, at lucy@jagjaguwar.com.
