You can call Deerhoof a lot of things: quirky, adorable, noisy, etc. Just don't you dare call them slackers. The group are reportedly in the studio working on an album to be released this October through their long-time label Kill Rock Stars. And sure, their music can be spastic at times, but where does the San Fransisco group get the energy? Just last year, they released the acclaimed Friend Opportunity, contributed to the soundtrack to Justin Theroux's film Dedication and Worried Noodles an album of songs by artist David Shrigley, and still found time for extensive touring. The apparently indefatigable group has found yet even more time for touring, as the deers will debut new material on a handful of dates in the coming months, including a free show in Brooklyn's Prospect Park on July 18 (as part of the Celebrate Brooklyn festival) and a stop at the Roots Family Picnic at the Philadelphia's the Festival Pier with the Roots, Gnarls Barkley and Sharon Jones And The Dap-Kings. The group will also play with Gnarls On July 27 at Californa's Hollywood Bowl as part of KCRW's World Festival. And when the group finds time to announce more information about that new album, we'll of course let you know.
