Three One G Records will soon drop Release The Bats, a tribute album for proto-goth doomsayers the Birthday Party featuring bands such as Chinese Stars, Get Hustle, Some Girls, Numbers, Melt Banana, Rah Bras and Ex Models. Label co-owner (and Locust frontperson, incidentally) Justin Pierson said that the release would be out by late December or early January, just in time to clear away (or more likely bring on) the winter blues. While there ain't no party like the Birthday Party, the Party did stop in 1984. The Australian band formed in the mid-seventies, then moved to London where they produced a handful of darkly rhythmic albums before creative differences, and less-creative drug problems, caused the group to collapse. Two of the band's members, namely, Nick Cave and a Bad Seed, went on to form Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds. Tracklist For Release The Bats: 01. The Friend Catcher - Das Oath 02.
