Sufjan, Devendra On John Fahey LP
Nov 30, 2005
Story by: Jessica Suarez

Four years after his death at age 62, legendary songwriter and guitarist John Fahey's songbook gets the tribute treatment with I Am The Resurrection(Vanguard) on February 14.

Fahey died in 2001, leaving behind a 40-year career and dozens of albums. Fahey mixed blues, folk, classical and world music, making him an outsider for most of his career, until a Rhino retrospective, titled Return Of The Repressed gained him new fans.

The tribute album, which brings together bands who have been influenced by Fahey's work, was produced by M. Ward and features artists like Grandaddy, Sufjan Stevens, Howe Gelb (of Giant Sand), and Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo.
