For a band who has a leisure activity ingrained into its very name, Bloc Party certainly isn't a group to sit back and relax. The UK dance-punks turned anthemic balladeers will digitally release their third album, Intimacy, this Thursday via the band's website. A physical release will be available on October 28 via Atlantic Records, and will reportedly feature different tracks. Fans that pre-order the physical album will receive the digital release per gratis. Intimacy was produced in part by Jackknife Lee, who produced last year's A Weekend In The City, and in part by Paul Epworth, who helmed the group's debut, Silent Alarm. The whole shebang was mixed by uber-producer Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, My Bloody Valentine), and has been described by the group as wildly experimental at parts and "classic Bloc Party" on other songs. The album was preceded by the recent single "Mercury," which was first debuted through the group's site. The band has indicated that the surprise digital release of the recently finished album is in part a reaction to the internet leak of A Weekend In The City, which was online four months before the album was in stores.
