David Bazan of Pedro The Lion fame plans to prowl the kingdom solo and then join up with the Undertow Orchestra, a special musical collective featuring songwriting legends Mark Eitzel (American Music Club) and Vic Chesnutt, as well as Will Johnson and Scott Danbom (Centro-matic). The songwriters will each share the limelight, playing a few of their own songs while the others serve as backing band. Each night promises to close with a round of covers. This will be Bazan's first tour since he and Pedro The Lion pride-mate TW Walsh decided to call it quits in November so Walsh could spend more time with his family. The pair says they split on friendly terms, and both have developed side-projects to keep them occupied. Walsh has created the Soft Drugs to kill his pain, while Bazan has a solo album slated for release on Jade Tree in early 2007. In related breakup news, Bazan's other project, Headphones, will soon be officially dismembered since Walsh (who made up half of the touring band) left in September.
