Chicago officials have rejected a bid by Radiohead to play in Millennium Park this summer, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The band, who is currently readying their seventh album for release, hoped to play the Frank Gehry–designed Jay Pritzker Pavilion in the park on June 19 and 20, but were told that the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra was scheduled to hold rehearsals there on the 20th. This has caused some controversy in the Windy City, as the park officials claim to want more live popular music and the revenue it provides, but have been accused of being wary of the noise complaints they have received in the past. "We have to support organizations such as the Grant Park Orchestra, but we're open to other events if there are availabilities at other times," Karen Ryan, a Millennium Park spokesperson, told the Sun-Times. The best news to come out of all of this though: We now know that Radiohead plan to tour this summer! Specific dates, however, have not yet been released.
