Built To Spill are finally ready to release their first studio album in five years on April 11. Titled You In Reverse (Warner Bros.), the 10-track album from Doug Martsch and Co. had been on the radar for months, with tentative release dates coming and going as the band slowly recorded and mixed (and re-mixed) the record. BTS also experienced a few line-up changes since their last album, Ancient Melodies Of The Future. Jim Roth, the band's touring guitarist, joined as a permanent member while longtime guest guitarist Brett Netson also came on board during the recording of You In Reverse. Quasi's Sam Coomes even showed up in the studio to lay down organ parts. The line-up changes could have to do with the long process of producing this record. Half of You In Reverse's material was written collaboratively, with jam sessions providing additional ideas and each musician writing his own parts, a departure from how previous BTS records have come together. Built To Spill have no definite tour dates yet, but will be back on the road to promote the record after an appearance at this year's South By Southwest. Warner Bros. also exclusively revealed to CMJ that the band have just recently set up their MySpace page to let fans preview the lead track to the album, "Goin' Against Your Mind."
