The Futureheads have finished their sophomore album after spending five weeks recording on a farm in the bayside town of Scarborough, North Yorkshire. Like the farm's resident chickens, they've laid 14 tracks for the forthcoming LP and are now in the scrambling—er—mixing stage. With their guitars set up in the greenhouse and drums in the barn, they truly played until the cows came home. With producer Ben Hillier (Blur, Doves), the band says they have cultivated a different sound from their a cappella troupe days of yore, as the Area Pt.1 and Area Pt. 2 EPs have alluded to. The preliminary tracklist for the as-of-yet-untitled album includes (in no particular order) "Worry," "Thursday," "Yes/No," "Cope," "Fallout," "Return Of The Berserker," "Faith," "Knife In The Water," "Back To The Sea," "Skip To The End," and "Munich," which is still a working title. According to 679 Recordings, the album is tentatively scheduled for release on July 12. www.thefutureheads.com
