Concert organizers announced yesterday that Bright Eyes, Michael Stipe, Rufus Wainwright, Peaches, Devendra Banhart, Chuck D and Fischerspooner will play Bring 'Em Home Now, an anti-war benefit, on March 20, the 3rd anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq. The event, which will be held at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom, will also feature a speech by the famed "Peace Mom," Cindy Sheehan. Proceeds from the concert will benefit Iraq Veterans Against The War and Veterans For Peace. Air America's The Majority Report, hosted by Janeane Garafalo, will broadcast live from the event. The concert will mark the kick-off of a 15-city Bring 'Em Home Now speaking tour for Sheehan, who will be joined by other (not-yet-announced) authors. "It is impossible not to react to the current state of affairs through personal action and artistic production," said Fischerspooner's Casey Spooner. "We are living in volatile times with a constant and vague sense of imminent disaster. We have been at war for 3 years. One desperately feels the need for someone to speak some sort of truth, either poetic or factual."
