New Pere Ubu On Eco-Friendly Smog Veil

New Pere Ubu On Eco-Friendly Smog Veil
Feb 27, 2006
Story by: Paul Haney

The now-Chicago-based label Smog Veil has quite a busy schedule lined up for the upcoming year, beginning with releasing a new record from bizarro post-punk legends Pere Ubu. The still-untitled record is set for a September release, as is the sophomore album (tentatively titled Better You Than Me) from the supergroup Unknown Instructions, which features Mike Watt and George Hurley of the Minutemen/fIREHOSE and Saccharine Trust guitarist Joe Baiza. The Cleveland-founded label is renovating an old building in Chicago and converting it to a space that will use environmentally sound technologies, such as solar panels and wind turbines. The label also plans a new website that's due in April, as well as distribution of their catalog on iTunes.
