Slayer Launch Tour On 6/6/06
Mar 7, 2006
Story by: Kory Grow

On calendar date 06/06/06, the sky will lacerate and rain blood once again when seminal Los Angeles thrashers Slayer headline the first date of the Unholy Alliance Tour – Preaching To The Perverted. The lineup also features Lamb Of God, and both Mastodon and Children Of Bodom alternating as openers, along with Thine Eyes Bleed.

Furthermore, the four original members of Slayer will release their first album together since 1990 this fall. With drummer Dave Lombardo rejoining their ranks in late ‘01, and executive producer Rick Rubin releasing the disc on his American Recordings, this as-yet-untitled album could be the one that the diehard fans have been wanting. As an added wildcard, Josh Abraham, whose previous credits include Korn, Velvet Revolver and Atreyu (three acts that don’t really jive with the band’s past sounds) will produce the album. But judging from 2001’s album God Hates Us All, which featured a producer that had previously worked with No Doubt and Sublime, this shouldn’t hinder the band’s sound. Some tentative song titles include: “Catalyst,” “Cult,” “Supremist,” and “Consfearacy.” In a recent press release guitarist Kerry King said, “This is probably the most prepared we’ve been to record an album since the ‘80s.” To appropriate a song from their watershed Reign In Blood: death means nothing, there is no end, they will be reborn.
