Early bird registration ends Monday for the 2006 CMJ Music Marathon, which will take place Oct 31-Nov 4 at Lincoln Center as well as at venues across New York City. While new music rules the nighttime, daytime events include panel discussions, mentoring sessions, interviews, exhibits, exclusive film screenings, and even more live performances. As in previous years, 12,000 music professionals and 100,000 fans are expected to be a part of CMJ Music Marathon. More than 1,000 artists spanning all genres will perform throughout the five-day festival. Attendees can also check out CMJ FilmFest, which last year hosted award-winning films such as Walk The Line, A History Of Violence, Thumbsucker, Martin Scorcese's No Direction Home and Elizabethtown. Previous CMJ FilmFests have featured appearances by Quentin Tarantino, Michael Moore, Harmony Korine, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and Mike Mills among other visionary directors. Registration with early-bird discounts are available at www.cmj.com/marathon through March 27. Bands can also submit artist/band showcase submissions with discount applications fees through April 15 at www.cmj.com/marathon.
